A world of cultural influences has shaped Carthage Cafe into the beautiful eatery it is today. Situated on 'the Drive' and serving up a mix of traditional Tunisian and French dishes, Carthage Cafe is a culinary journey like no other.
Snug, comfy and intimate, Carthage Cafe is bristling with colour, texture and joy. Where bistro tables sit in close formation under the glow of Arabic lanterns, this eatery has created an atmosphere that feels worlds away from Vancouver. Warm orange walls host an army of charming memorabilia, ornaments and ornate wine holders whilst antique chests and cupboards afford a homey feel that only gets better when the candles are glowing.
The menu really is something to behold. It's diverse and delicious, offering Tunisian brik, French-style scallops, French onion soup and niçoise salads for starters. Their pride and joy, however, have to be their fresh mussels. With seven tantalising dressings to choose from, every preference and palate is catered for so everyone can indulge in these Mediterranean Sea delicacies.
As for mains, their homemade couscous takes centre stage. Made the traditional way, you can enjoy yours with Fraser Valley organic chicken, house-made sausage, fall-off-the-bone lamb shank, local halibut and a variety of vegan ingredients. Seafood is also given its own stage with the catch of the day served in a saffron broth, and an almighty trio of prawns, mussels and scallops served in a homemade bisque. As for meat, you can't beat a chicken tagine, steak frites or lamb shish kebab on a rainy Vancouver day. For an authentic taste of the Med, Carthage Cafe has a candlelit table with your name on it.
